The Coastal Georgia Camellia Society of Savannah GA was founded in 2017 as a not-for-profit organization. We are an enthusiastic group of Camellia lovers who live in the area, and we heartily welcome anyone who has an interest in Camellias - please join us!
Preservation
Our organization's mission, vision and values are based upon our collective responsibility and pride in Savannah's Camellia heritage. We honor, celebrate and seek to extend the legacies of area Camellia giants like Judge Arthur Solomon, Scotty Forbes and Sid Denham, all of whom were instrumental in bringing these beautiful ornamental plants to Savannah's luscious landscape. Through the Judge Solomon Trail at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Garden, Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah's Squares and our own gardens, we are committed to the preservation and extension of Camellias in our city and region.
Our second primary objective is to share our knowledge and the expertise of others to our members and interested growers in the Coastal Empire. We know of no other botanical genus that has a richer history, variety and opportunity for delighting anyone who chooses to learn about the complexity of Camellias. We accomplish our educational goals through regular meetings, the annual Camellia Show and Festival, other events, tours, workshops and opportunities to volunteer.
